The idea
Most AI assistants are answer machines.
hypatia is the opposite — it never just gives the result.
Ask “What’s the solution to this equation?” and the tutor replies with a guiding question, a method reminder, or a hint about the next step. The goal isn’t to copy a result — it’s to learn how to get there.
Adapts to the student
The student picks their level once in their profile — the right guiding prompt is selected automatically.
Simpler vocabulary, smaller steps, more encouragement.
More rigour, with references to methods and theorems.
Concise, assumes foundations, focuses on reasoning depth.
What’s inside
Chat and Notes are the whole app — focused, with no distractions.
The AI guides instead of solving, adapting pacing, vocabulary, and rigour to the student’s level.
Inline & block LaTeX, scientific SVG diagrams (atomic models, geometry), and full Markdown — rendered inline in the conversation.
A dedicated Notes tab with AI-suggested titles and one-tap OCR from the clipboard to capture an exercise from a screenshot.
Any OpenAI-compatible endpoint (OpenRouter, Groq, Claude, GPT…), Apple Intelligence on-device, or a fully local Qwen 3.5.
Type a question, snap a photo of an exercise, or attach a PDF — analyzed via AI vision or OCR.
French, English, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Hindi, Indonesian, Tamil, Vietnamese, Khmer.
Privacy-first by design
hypatia deliberately leaves out email, calendars, and long-term “user facts” memory. Less surface, more focus — and nothing to leak.
